Dion MacArthur took her first dance lesson at the age of five in her hometown of Brandon , Manitoba . After studying dance with Barbara Withey-Ehnes, Dion continued her training at the Banff School of Fine Arts, the Alberta Ballet School , and finally, the School of Toronto Dance Theatre, of which she is a graduate. Her adventure with Danny Grossman Dance Company began in 1991 and has continued over the course of the last fourteen years. In addition to performing Mr. Grossman's diverse repertoire, as well as works by senior guest choreographers, Dion also teaches Grossman works, technique, and approaches to a sp iring young dancers across the city, province, and country. During her time away from the Grossman Company, Dion sp eaks to young people about the perils of eating disorders. By sharing her personal story and eventual triumph over anorexia nervosa, and the fulfillment of her dream of becoming a professional dancer, she has helped many young people confront some of life's challenges and realities. In addition to her work as a dancer, teacher, and public sp eaker, Dion is also completing an undergraduate degree in Social Development Studies at the University of Waterloo .

"I am sad to announce that this is my last season with the Company, as I am moving to New Zealand to be with my boyfriend, John. Life is a continual journey with change, challenge, and growth. I will have my Grossman knowledge and experience with me forever. Danny, you have not only taught me how to be an incredible artist and dancer - you have taught me how to be a wise person. I would not be the woman I am today with out you. I love you, and am eternally grateful to you and Pam, and to all the dancers with whom I have had the privilege of working."
