Mairéad
Filgate took her first dance lessons at the
age of twelve at the 'Keeping Time School of Dance'
in Barrie , Ontario . Soon after, she moved to Toronto
to attend the Etobicoke School of the Arts. During
this period, Mairéad danced independently with
Gabby Kamino, as well as with P.B.J. Dance Projects
under the direction of Laurie Raymond. Since graduating
from the School of Toronto Dance Theatre in 2001, Mairéad
has performed the work of Justine Chambers, Bill James,
Allen Kaeja, Karen Kaeja, and Ji Hye Lee, among others.
Mairéad is also an aspiring young choreographer:
For the past four years she has presented her own work
with P.B.J. Youth Dance Projects, and at the Fringe
Festival of Independent Dance Artists, the Wrecking
Ball, and several high schools throughout Toronto .
Mairéad is thrilled to be in her third year
as a member of Danny Grossman Dance Company. |
